Profhilo at Leicester Medispa

Most patients experiencing the effects of the natural ageing process, or environmental damage can benefit from a course of Profhilo®. However, before we can agree to administer any treatment, here at Leicester MediSpa, we will ask that you attend a no obligation consultation, to ensure that there are no contraindications which may affect the safety or efficacy of your treatment. Once we are satisfied that Profhilo® will be a safe and effective treatment for you to undergo, you can go ahead and book your first treatment session.

As with any injectable procedure, there are some minor side-effects to consider which can include mild redness, slight swelling, and possible bruising. These generally disappear in a short period of time and are associated with the needle, not the product. Infection of the treatment area and allergic reaction are exceptionally rare. Contraindications to Profhilo® include bleeding disorders, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

Profhilo® can treat a wide range of skin concerns on the face and the body. However, most commonly treated areas include:-

• Full face
• Neck
• Decolletage
• Elbows
• Hands
• Knees
• Any area which shows visible signs of ageing

As Profhilo is injected just under the skin using very fine needles, into set points, it is relatively painless. The injections may sting briefly but this is normal, bearable and will subside. Patients can opt for topical anaesthetic before Profhilo® treatment, but it is usually not needed since the procedure is quick to administer however, this will be discussed at your consultation.
After your treatment you may experience some tenderness around the treatment points for 24 to 72 hours.

It is most commonly advised that you have 2 treatments, a month apart. However, if you are experiencing more severe signs of ageing, such as deeper lines, loss of volume and skin dehydration, we may recommend another treatment, a month after the second. Follow up treatments are then recommended every 3 to 6 months, to maintain your results.

After your Profhilo® treatment, you will be provided with bespoke aftercare advice from your medical practitioner, here at Leicester MediSpa. There is no clinical downtime, and you can continue your daily activities immediately afterwards. However, it is advisable to abstain from strenuous exercise or to have any hot baths, saunas, or steam treatments for around 48 hours.
It’s important to keep the skin clean afterwards to avoid infection, so not wearing makeup for 24 hours, after your treatment is advisable.

Some results may be seen around 4 weeks from the initial treatment. However, the best results are visible around 4 weeks after the second treatment. If you have severe facial ageing, a third treatment may be required to give optimum results.

Results can vary from patient to patient. However, in general, you should enjoy a more hydrated and glowing complexion for up to six months, following your initial Profhilo® treatment.
Certain environmental and lifestyle factors can have a dramatic effect on your skin, as well as the results from a course of Profhilo®, such as smoking, sun exposure, pollution and stress.
